A Tradition of Classic Italian Dining
The Roots
Joey's restaurant traces its roots to a family legacy of Italian cooking and hospitality, beginning with the original founder, Joey DeCuffa's parents—his father, a dedicated baker, and his mother, who mastered Italian cuisine from her in-laws.
Growing up in this rich culinary environment, Joey developed a deep appreciation for authentic Italian cooking. After years of working in restaurants throughout Syracuse, DeCuffa opened Joey's Classic Italian in 1982, determined to serve classic Italian-American dishes made from scratch with top-quality ingredients.
The Gathering Place
What began as a small neighborhood restaurant quickly gained a loyal following. Guests were drawn not only by the food but by the atmosphere of genuine warmth and hospitality that Joey himself cultivated.
The restaurant became a gathering place for families, friends, and the community—a place where every meal felt like coming home.
Unwavering Commitment
Over the decades, Joey's reputation grew steadily, built entirely on the quality of its food and the sincerity of its hospitality.
The restaurant became a trusted name in the Syracuse area, known for generous portions, consistent excellence, and an unwavering commitment to classic Italian-American cooking.
Continuing the Tradition
Today, that foundation is being continued to be honored as long-time friend Bill Cleary continues the tradition, ensuring Joey's renowned and enduring reputation for great food and genuine hospitality is carried on.
The brand new Joey's Classic Italian Restaurant is located in the footprint of the original location off Carrier Circle in East Syracuse.
